GVC and BetMGM partner with Conscious Gaming for multi-state responsible gaming via PlayPause

Conscious Gaming has announced GVC Holdings as an official partner of PlayPause, a recently launched multi-state responsible gaming tool in the United States. PlayPause will launch with BetMGM, GVC’s US-based joint venture with MGM Resorts.

PlayPause is designed to modernise and strengthen the effectiveness of the US gaming industry’s responsible gaming programs. The solution will be made available to operators and regulators via Conscious Gaming, a new non-profit organisation established by GeoComply, a global leader in geolocation and compliance technology.

“We are delighted to be the first official partner of PlayPause,” says Shay Segev, CEO of GVC Holdings. “We believe the most responsible operator will be the most successful operator, and PlayPause’s innovative, multi-state approach to responsible gaming in the U.S. aligns with our firm commitment to providing our customers with the safest and most enjoyable experience possible.”

“A multi-state approach to responsible gaming is an important step for the industry and advances consumer protection in a meaningful way. We’re delighted to play a leading role in collaborating on this important and timely initiative,” says Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM.

“Conscious Gaming is thrilled to be partnering with GVC and BetMGM to launch PlayPause,” says Anna Sainsbury, Conscious Gaming Trustee and GeoComply Chairman and Co-Founder. “To have such a high profile, responsible and fast-growing operator on board from the start is a fantastic endorsement for the PlayPause initiative. As an industry, it’s only by working together with all stakeholders that we’ll be able to ensure players have the necessary tools to foster responsible play.”

Powered by GeoComply, the PlayPause solution will:

  • Expand the protective self-exclusion bubble so that as players move from state to state, the protection that they have asked for, can also move with them.
  • Enable consumers to self-exclude across multiple states to prevent the incidence of simply crossing a state line and continuing to gamble.
  • Empower operators to strengthen responsible gaming programs – and make more data-driven decisions – with greater insights into players that have already self-excluded in one state but need to be recognized and protected if/when they seek to play in another jurisdiction.
  • Streamline the administrative burden and eliminate the silos associated with maintaining numerous separate state-operated self-exclusion databases.

The announcement underscores Conscious Gaming’s commitment to uniting the industry to achieve shared responsible gaming goals and protect consumers. By utilising PlayPause, industry leaders can significantly streamline responsible gaming compliance obligations by managing state-to-state self-exclusion through one single integration point.
