The Iberoamerican Gaming Summit has chosen the city of Bogotá as the venue for the 10th edition of this international event.COLJUEGOS, an entity under Colombia’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, will serve as the institutional host of the forum, which will take place on May 5 and 6 at theBogotá Marriott Hotel, under the theme “Latam: A regulated market increase opportunities”.
In Latin America, Colombia’s casino and gambling industry stands out as one of the region’s most competitive and secure markets. Thanks to strong legislative support, both domestic and foreign investors are increasingly choosing to invest in the country. The Colombian government is among those that have regulated online gaming in recent years, aiming to protect users, open the market to the world of online betting, and boost competitiveness. In fact, the country has achieved significant market penetration—the online segment accounts for nearly 47% of all gambling revenues in Colombia. According to data from the regulator Coljuegos, during the first half of 2025, transfers from the gambling sector to the public health system reached COP 883.992 billion (over USD 225 million), representing an increase of 26.9% compared to the first half of 2024.
The gambling industry has become a sector of solid growth and continues to show a strong economic outlook, with projections indicating that the combined traditional and online markets will grow between 9% and 15% in 2025. The growth of Colombia’s gambling and betting sector is being driven by several key factors. First, increasing digitalisation has strengthened the online channel, with a notable rise in users and adoption of online betting platforms, significantly boosting market growth rates. Additionally, regulation and formalisation of the sector have advanced, thanks to a stronger legal framework and greater oversight by Coljuegos. This has reduced informality and enabled a growing share of the business to operate under official licenses, expanding the regulated market’s participation. Another major driver is the expansion of sports betting and gaming tied to sporting events, which have gained popularity among Colombians—especially on digital platforms—fueling growth in online revenue. Finally, transfers to the public health system, which come from the sector’s legal contributions, reached record levels in 2025, reflecting higher business activity and more efficient revenue collection.
In this meeting, the Summit once again featured a dynamic format, with more than 25 speakers addressing the most relevant topics for the sector from an Ibero-American perspective. Throughout various roundtables and presentations, the more than 150 participants had the opportunity to share experiences and showcase success stories from their respective countries.
The Iberoamerican Gaming Summit, returning this year to Colombia, has celebrated nine previous editions: Madrid (Spain) in 2014 and 2015, Mexico City (Mexico) in 2016, Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) in 2017, Medellín (Colombia) in 2018, Lima(Peru) in 2019, Panama City (Panama) in 2023, San Juan (Puerto Rico) in 2024, and the latest in Lima (Peru) in 2025.
